Most significant advances or findings in past 10yrs
Osteoporosis affects 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men aged older than 60 years.
Most important aspects of current work
Newer therapies have been developed that can stimulate bone forming osteoblasts to increase bone density by up to 20% in 18 months and reduce fracture rates by up to 70%. At SGH we have pioneered the technique to treat acute vertebral fractures with cement injection, relieving pain almost immediately.
