Significance
St George Hospital is the designated major trauma centre for the Area Health Service.
Major achievements
My research focuses on 2 main areas, where the field of "trauma management" and "trauma system development" is certainly the most interesting at present here at St George. Attached, please find 3 articles that clearly demonstrate the importance of a well-coordinated approach to the multiple injured patient, surgically as well as within a hospital network.
Research In Progress
The importance of key performance indicators (KPI) in trauma systems is presently studied
Cost effectiveness of trauma care, to what extent are trauma patient compensable
Trauma Outcome Monitoring Program: this we have just started, what are the long-term consequences, subjectively and objectively, following major trauma, and what are the impacts on the individual as well as on society (costs, loss of workforce etc.)
