A great way to support vital medical research is to remember the St George Medical Research Foundation when you are planning your estate and in particular when you are writing your will.
Leaving a proportion of your estate to medical research can be a very empowering and generous act. Your money will be used to fund vital research that will have an impact on people’s lives after your death.
Leaving a bequest to the Foundation is a decision that is not taken lightly and at the Foundation we certainly appreciate your decision. Your bequest will be used to support our mission to undertake high-quality medical research at St George.
It’s important to ensure that your Bequest to the Foundation is used in the way that you wish – we do encourage our supporters to tell us how they would like their bequest to be used. Your legal advisor can assist you with this and can advise on different types of bequest and the most appropriate wording for your bequest.
As a general guide the following wording is offered by the Foundation:
“I give and bequeath free of all duties (add here the specific amount, percentage or share of assets to be gifted) to the St George Medical Research Foundation of Level 2, 4 – 16 Montgomery Street, Kogarah, NSW 2217 absolutely for (select one of):
I direct that a receipt of the proper officer for the time being of the St George Medical Research Foundation shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my trustee/s.”
If you would like further information about the correct wording please contact the Foundation.
