The 2009 Foundation Reception

In April 2009 the Foundation’s 2nd annual foundation reception took place at Kirribilli House, the Sydney residence of the Prime Minister of Australia. The Office of the Prime Minister invited the Foundation to Kirribilli House and Hon Robert McClelland, Federal Member for Barton and Attorney General of Australia, hosted the evening.

The evening was a huge success with Robert McClelland and Hon Nathan Rees, Premier of New South Wales, both offering their support to the Foundation and both awarding grants to medical researchers at St George Hospital.

The Reception also saw the awarding of the Paul Campbell Memorial Grant for Medical Research. This award was made in honour of Mr. Paul Campbell who died as a result of cancer at St George Hospital in 2008. Paul’s wife, Colleen Campbell, attended the Reception to see the award being made.

The Reception raised in excess of $50,000 – funds that will be awarded to medical researcher projects during the Foundation’s main funding round in November 2009.
