The Beachside Dash is set to make history in 2026 with the introduction of its first-ever certified 21.1 km Half Marathon.
Now in its 19th year, the Beachside Dash has become an iconic Sydney fun run and a regular fixture on the city’s annual running calendar. On Sunday 13 September 2026, participants will have the opportunity to take on the new Half Marathon alongside the event’s popular 10km, 5km, 2km and Corporate Cup races.
Starting from Dolls Point, the certified Half Marathon course will connect the St George area to the Sutherland Shire, with runners crossing the iconic Captain Cook Bridge before reaching the turnaround point near Shark Park and returning to the finish line.
The addition of the Half Marathon marks a significant milestone for the event and creates a unique opportunity for runners to be part of a historic first while enjoying a professionally managed race experience in a spectacular bayside setting.
St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF) CEO Pam Brown said the new distance represents an exciting evolution for the event.
“The Half Marathon has been a long-term goal for Beachside Dash and we’re thrilled to finally bring it to our community. This new event not only provides runners with an exciting challenge, but also helps us grow our fundraising impact to support vital medical research in our region.”
Participants can choose from five event distances:
- Half Marathon (21.1km)
- 10km Run
- 5km Run, Jog or Walk
- 2km Dash and School Cup Challenge
- Corporate Cup Challenge
The Beachside Dash offers cash prizes across selected events, medals for all participants and a dedicated Recovery Area, creating a memorable race-day experience for runners of all ages and abilities.
More than a race, the Beachside Dash brings the community together while raising funds for the SSMRF, helping support local doctors, scientists and allied health professionals working to improve health outcomes through research.
