Don’t just take our word for it though
Making life saving advances in chronic diseases, improving treatments by reducing side effects and finding cures to deadly diseases is made possible through medical research. Club Central’s support of SSMRF demonstrates our commitment to making this life changing research happen close to home in St George & Sutherland hospitals. Through our funding partnership, we hope to foster innovation and ensure that the best and brightest minds are working locally to make a difference to the communities we are part of, as well as the wider population.
Ramsgate RSL are proud to be a long term supporter of St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF) as this partnership greatly aligns with our core values as a local community organisation. Our clubs’ commitment to promoting
health and wellbeing amongst our workforce and extended community is mirrored
by the very existence of the SSMRF which is to improve the quality of life for all.
When we chose to partner with SSMRF, we wanted to be associated with a medical research foundation who provided grants at the grass roots in our local area to undertake research in a wide variety of medicine. The opening of the Microbiome Research facility at St George hospital is an example of this. Over time, our staff have been involved in their fundraising activities as well as sponsorship for the Beachside Dash. We congratulate the foundation on continuing to look at areas of medicine where ground-breaking research can make a difference to all Australians.
I’m proud to be associated with SSMRF and the team of dedicated doctors and researchers they support. The St George District Cricket Club has made a firm commitment to SSMRF that we will continue to get behind the Foundation and raise funds to support medical research projects in our local St George and Sutherland Hospitals.
"We recently read a poem on grief, and one of the lines was: 'Build a castle in the wreckage of my passing'. Dear Papa, this research grant, and the others that will follow in years to come, is the first step in laying the foundations for the building of our castle ... We are ordinary people who were blessed with an extraordinary Papa, and we want his name, sacrifice and values to live on in something meaningful."
