On 31 March, SSMRF was proud to be part of the 2nd Annual Neurocritical Care Symposium once again. A huge thank you to all the doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who attended the day to hear about the latest research & clinical advances happening within Australia and across the world. SSMRF is funding important trauma research happening in the Intensive Care Unit at St George Hospital, which is looking in to acute brain injuries in association with cardiac arrest and strokes. Our annual golf day at The Australian this week was yet again a roaring success, with the collective generosity of our golfers and sponsors, St.George Bank, Momentum Built, Tynan Motors & Titleist, helping us to smash our fundraising target. Click here to see the photos.

P4 165x165Preeclampsia – A Worldwide Problem

In Australia, 30,000 women each year will develop high blood pressure in pregnancy and 10,000 of these will have preeclampsia. High blood pressure in pregnancy in Australian women has good outcomes for mothers and babies but with preeclampsia mothers have 4 times the risk and babies 3 times the risk of serious complications compared to normal women. On Monday 22 May various organisations will come together to be part of International Preeclampsia Day at a FREE information session supported by SSMRF and St George Private Hospital. SSMRF is very excited to announce that we will once again be one of the charities of choice for the 2017 Sutherland 2 Surf. On Sunday 23 July you can join 8,000 other runners as you tackle the 11km course. SSMRF wants to thank Southern Districts Rugby Club for their generosity at the recent Ladies Day held on 8 April. Funds raised at the day went to medical research in your local hospitals to support you, your family and your local community. All ladies in attendance were wined, dined and treated to a fashion parade between games with thanks to Tynan Mercedes Benz.
