Full statement transcript:
Speaker, I recently attended the St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation Annual Dinner for 2025. It was a privilege to see the research that is being conducted by this fantastic organisation.
I have been passionate about St George Hospital for many years now and thanks to over $740 million worth of investment, it is now a world-class medical institution. It was fantastic to celebrate all that the SSMRF have achieved over the last year, including funding announcements to both start and continue great programs. This includes using AI to speed up precision radiation therapy for brain cancer patients.
I would like to thank CEO Pam Brown for her efforts, as well as the board of directors, Jill Deering, Professor Greg Davis, Bill Petrovski, Professor Emad El-Omar, Dean Gillespie, Professor Michael Grimm, Professor Peter Gonski, Professor Georgina Hold, Janelle Kemp, Professor Kate Moore and Madeline Tynan. Of course, this would not be possible without all the fantastic researchers who are truly making a difference in the medical field, putting our local area on the map. I look forward to attending next year.
