St George District Cricket Club raises $20k to support medical research projects

We are thrilled to announce that Saturday’s charity walk raised $20k for SSMRF to support medical research projects in our local St George and Sutherland Hospitals.

St George District Cricket Club annual SSMRF fundraiser

SSMRF would like to thank Kevin Greene and the St George District Cricket Club for hosting their annual Walk for Medical Research. This year’s walk was a tribute to their former Patron, Warren Saunders OAM, who sadly passed away a year before this year’s walk. Warren was a wonderful supporter of many local organisations and was always a generous contributor to this annual SSMRF fundraiser.

SSMRF CEO Pam Brown attended the walk with Kevin Greene, John Saunders, their families and club members. The walkers stopped at club sponsor locations along the trail before ending at Hurstville cricket oval.

This is the 11th year the Club has chosen SSMRF as their Charity Partner and Club President Kevin Greene AM will again lead the Walk. Kevin is an Ambassador of SSMRF.

“I’m proud to be associated with SSMRF and the team of dedicated doctors and researchers they support. The St George District Cricket Club has made a firm commitment to SSMRF that we will continue to get behind the Foundation. The Annual Walk serves as a tribute to our former Patron, Warren Saunders OAM, who sadly passed away on 1 March 2023, almost a year to the day of this year’s Walk. Warren was a wonderful supporter of so many local organisations and always a generous contributor to this Annual SSMRF fundraiser. Please consider making a donation to the St George DCC Charity Walk as we raise funds to support medical research projects in our local St George and Sutherland Hospitals,” said Kevin.
